The tunable white function

Description

The 'Tunable white' function combines 2 dimmers for controlling kelvin (colour temperature) of the light source as well as the brightness.
Kelvin is the unit to express how warm or cold the lighting is. The higher the kelvin value the 'colder' the lighting will look (going to blue). The lower the kelvin value the 'warmer' the lighting will look (going to orange).

Parameters

TW01

Name Function
The naming of a 'Tunable white' function is divided in 3 parts:
  • Name: insert here a short and clear description of the 'Tunable white' function.
  • Room: select here the room in which the 'Tunable white' function is activated.
  • Icon: select here whether the Tunable white function has to be represented on a TELETASK touchscreen and if yes, under what icon.
Configure Dimmers
In this field you can select the two dimmers which will control the kelvin of the lighting.
  • Warm white: The dimmer for controlling the warm white component.
  • Warm white kelvin: the lowest possible kelvin value supported by the lighting.
  • Cold white: The dimmer for controlling the cold white component.
  • Cold white kelvin: the highest possible kelvin value supported by the lighting.
Options
Additional options for the tunable white function
  • Set default to human centric lighting: Indicates that the colour temperature is default controlled by the human centric lighting (see Options > Light color settings). This also means that the human centric lighting will take back control of the colour temperature each time the lamp is turned off (when the colour temperature was manually overridden).

Function behaviour when used on an interface

The tunable white function behaves like regular dimmer but with the additional feature that you can specify the kelvin value.

TW02

Color temperature
Specifies the kelvin value behaviour.
  • Enable: Check enable if you want to control the kelvin value. You have 2 choices when selected. Option 1 is to chose a specific kelvin value in the slider (or fill in the kelvin value in the textbox). Option 2 is to let the "daylight curve" control the kelvin value.

    • Use daylight curve (ctc): The kelvin value will be set and constantly changed to the kelvin value plotted by the daylight curve (see Options > Light color settings).
    • Color temperature (K): The kelvin value will be set to to this value.
Brightness
Specify the brightness(dimming) level.
  • Enable: Check enable if you want to control the brightness (dimming).
  • Level: The brightness level .

Actions

Short
Actions available when tapping the button:
  • Toggle between:Last level / OFF: Toggle between the last level (brightness) and off. You have the additional option to configure the kelvin value.
  • Toggle between: Set level / OFF: Toggle between the configured level (brightness) and off. You have the additional option to configure the kelvin value.
  • Tune white: Set the level (brightness) and kelvin value.
Remark: With this action it is not mandatory to set the level (brightness) or kelvin value. In case you are not setting a specific value (brightness/colour(kelvin)), it will remain what is currently active.
  • Set last level: Set the brightness to the last level. You have the additional option to configure the kelvin value.
Remark: The level (brightness) will be set to 10% in case the last level was below 10%.
  • Set last level / 100%: Set the level (brightness) to the last level. When activated again it will set the level (brightness) to 100%. You have the additional option to configure the kelvin value.
Long
Actions available when holding the button longer than 1,2s. All off the actions of the short press are available with a few additional once:
  • Continuous Dimming: The dimmer will make a continuous linear movement between 0% and 100%. With this function the light intensity can be adjusted completely to your needs. No kelvin value can be configured, the current kelvin value will be used.
  • Dim up: The dimmer will increase from the active status till 100%. No kelvin value can be configured, the current kelvin value will be used.
  • Dim down: The dimmer will decrease from the active status till 0%. No kelvin value can be configured, the current kelvin value will be used.
