We would like to clarify the importance, in PROSOFT 5, of the differences between a person configured as an ‘owner’, a ‘user’ and/or a ‘system integrator’.
Configuration in PROSOFT/USERSOFT
When adding people in USERSOFT, each person must be assigned to a group, for example, ‘parents’, ‘children’, ‘family’, ‘staff’, etc.
In addition each person needs to be granted the correct ‘Cloud access’ role as well. This determines whether someone is granted access to the TTcloud platform with their ‘user’ or ‘owner’ rights.
What does an ‘owner’ do?
A person with ‘owner’ rights has a broader role than a standard 'user'. This person can:
- log in to TTcloud
- manage the system and monitor settings
- purchase subscriptions
- receive technical emails via the TTcloud platform (e.g. important cybersecurity updates for his central unit)
An ‘owner’ therefore fulfils an administrative function, comparable to that of a system integrator. He has even superior rights compared to the system integrator.
Note: a ‘user’ cannot perform actions above, he can only use ATMOS.
Important point of attention
If, within an installation, no person is configured with TTcloud access rights as an owner, then no important notifications or technical updates can/will be received by email.
Practical example
In April 2026, an important PROSOFT 4 cybersecurity update was rolled out. Only system integrators and owners were informed about this via e-mail (system integrators already 5 months upfront via the TELETALK newsletter as well). In installations without an active ‘owner’, for security reasons, the TTcloud connection was automatically deactivated on 15 April 2026.
That is why it is strongly recommended to configure at least one person in every installation as an ‘owner’, so that important communication is never missed.
